I was in the Twin Cities this week on business and since Doc does not yet have his official poker room ready I decided to try the new room at Treasure Island in Red Wing, just outside of Hastings.
Positives:
1. Brand spanking new everything, even the chips
2. No Smoking in the room
3. Very friendly and helpful staff
4. Great 2-10 spread HE game
5. Bad beat Jackpot
Negatives:
1. Dealers were all still VERY green so there skills were just a tad off
2. Waitress dressed like the gals at Dennys (hey I want feathers and fishnets OK)
3. Not enough players yet to spread a big variety of games yet. (2-4, 3-6, 2 to 10 HE.
4. No regular tourney schedule yet
All in all I enjoyed the experience and will play there next time I'm up here. Nice to have a choice over the always smokey and crowded Canterbury Park. _________________ Lifes too short to play with cheap chips |

Treasure Island might actually be the finest poker room I've been in...
Nice atmosphere...small room...10 large tables with plenty of space...wood walls...tin/copper ceiling...great spot lighting...no smoke in sight...Paulson chips...large plasma screens
These guys didn't just stick some tables in the corner, they did it right. Bravo, tribe.
I got there and slapped down $200. Left 2 hours later with $270 thanks to the guy across from me who liked to chase everything.
I'll be back...and don't really have a reason to go to Canterbury now unless it is for a tournament. _________________ --

O.o Ya i work at TI in the computer support.
Yes the dealers seem green but most all of them moved over from the Black Jack tables. All-in-all there has been lots of positive feedback from the players. They had the room custom built from an outside source, not sure who tho.
Too bad employees can't play.......... :'( |
