Hello,
Ball is in the circle and attacker attempts to pass it to a colleague a few yards from the goal but it deflects off a defender's stick into the goal.
Umpire gives a goal but defenders protest as it was not a shot. Umpire states that this is not necessary, the only requirement being that the ball was touched by an attacker at any time whilst it was in the circle. Was the umpire correct?
Ball is being played about in the circle with attackers and defenders each playing it but the attackers cannot get a shot on goal and the defenders can't get it out of the circle. Eventually a defender attempts to clear the ball but only succeeds in putting into his goal. What is the decision in this hypothetical situation? My thoughts are that it should be a goal but, if not, perhaps you can explain the reasoning.
