|
|
i run games, where i got no idea how many players will turn up(it could be anywere from 6-40+), and no idea how many rebuys, so i would like to be able to set up differant schedlues depending on number of players and rebuys. i know rebuys would be quite hard, what would have to happen it would have to have the same for anynumber of rebuys untill rebuy period closes, then change after that. my torements are normaly NL holdem, with 15min rounds and want to last around 3 hours, with rebuys in frist 3 rounds. starting stacks are 1500, and rebuys give 1000
example;
i will only do the fist 6 rounds but you will get the idea
15-20 players, less then 5 rebuys
10/20
20/40
30/60
45/90
70/140
100/200
15-20 players, 5 - 10 rebuys
10/20
20/40
30/60
45/90
75/150
125/250
20-25 players, less than 5 rebuys
10/20
20/40
30/60
45/90
70/140
125/250
20-25 players, 10-15 rebuys
10/20
20/40
30/60
50/100
80/160
125/250
haveing this feature would be really usful in ensuring that there is a good game and that it finishes on time, even with a widely varible attendence |

Have you experimented with creating a separate betting schedule component for each tier and then simply loading in the appropriate schedule right before you start? _________________ --

ive tried that, it does work, but it slows down the start of the torment, but it does not work on the number of rebuys as i cant change it half way though, and some games i get no rebuys, others i get like 20, and that i quite a big differance, and it is quite a problem for people if the game goes on late, and since we normal only play for 3 hours and we end up finishing really early we have not had much chance to play |

anoamas,
I gotta say as a fairly experienced TD that changing the betting schedule *during* a tournament is a terrible idea.
As such, I'm never going to add a feature that will automatically change the schedule during a tournament.
But don't get me wrong. I *am* all for suggestions for new features. I do appreciate idea generation, even if I shoot some of those ideas down. _________________ --

You may not like my answer, but what about not having any rebuys? If you don't have them, you will know how many chips are in play and can adjust your schedule accordingly, even though it is all just an estimate as to when the tourney will end. Every rebuy adds more chips to the tourney which will in turn lengthen the tourney. |

Well, and I would also argue that the actual variation in rebuys you're seeing shouldn't make your tournament last more than 1-2 extra levels anyway.
Example. 20 players with 1,500 starting stacks. That's 30,000 chips in play.
5 rebuys means another 5,000 in play. So 35,000 in play.
10 rebuys means another 5,000 in play. So, 40,000 in play.
That's a difference of 5,000, or 14% more chips in play from 5 rebuys to 10 rebuys...and that's less than your betting schedule rate of increase.
So, I argue that is isn't a big enough of a deal to worry about. _________________ --
