|

I've done some searching, but I don't see the answers I'm looking for...well, that's not true. I see that Java2Junkie writes some cool formulas and figured I'd see if I could draw him out again.
I've fiddled with this for a few days now, and wonder if I don't have a bug somewhere. I can't seem to edit formulas in the designer. That is, I can pull up the node detail, but other than the pull down options I can't seem to enter any formula changes.
That said, the scoring we use for our leagues are as follows:
9 players
1 pt per place
2 pts per elimination
2 pts to make the final table (top 6)
-1 pt for rebuy in before the first break
-2 pts for rebuy between first and second break
-3 pts for rebuy thereafter
+1 pt for not rebuying at all
We also add possible bonus points for a "fun" bonus each game (best hand, best shades, best shirt, etc). I suppose I could add manual points here, as soon as I learn how to do that.
So...any ideas? |

There's no way to do the point subtraction based on *when* a rebuy occurred (although I'm not sure why you'd want to do that anyway).
Everything else is possible.
But another comment. Isn't +1 for not rebuying and -1 for rebuying equivalent to just simply having -2 for rebuying? _________________ --

I figured the timing would be a factor. This is my first shot at running a league, and we knew we'd figure some bugs out as we went.
Most of our players have been in tourneys that charged more for rebuying later in the game, and we thought we'd try to have the point deductions reflect that.
Bonus for those that didn't rebuy was kind of a whim. We did mention that it effectively made all rebuys -2! I threw that into the mix to see if it was possible with the formula, as I'm trying to learn the software.
Any idea why I can't enter a formula in the designer? |

Sounds like you'd want your formula to factor in "total rebuy cost" for a player, which should be doable.
Please define "can't enter a formula". _________________ --

Here's what I mean by "can't enter a formula": with the designer open, I see lots of options for creating a scoring method. I see a "formula" and "node" screen, both of which show me the breakdown of the scoring method selected.
If I'm understanding this correctly, I should be able to customize that formula. I'm a little (lot) shaky on how to enter the formula I want.
Neither the "node detail" nor the "formula" text boxes allow me to type in them, so I'm assuming there's another input method I'm lost on.
BTW, I was describing your work to a buddy of mine who was asking why I didn't just buy a "professional" poker tourney system. My response was "this may not be as polished as some stuff out there, but it does so much, it's well worth the learning curve". |
