A user sends me an email late last night saying his host id changed and needs a new license by tonight. (10pm my time)
I respond as soon as I see it this morning with a new key (9am my time)
At 3:30pm, I get the following message from the user:
Quote: | Does anyone work today? Good thing I spent money on a license that doesn't work, what a crock of shit.
Stop being money hungry and allow your customers to buy your product outright, this licensing crap is not the way you run a business, especially when a customer pays for a license and it doesn't work when he is about to run a tourney.....great..... 40 guys will now now your product sucks. Can't wait till they tell thier friends and then those friends tell there other friends, way to support your product but not answering emails. |
How does one respond to that? Here's how I responded:
Quote: | I sent you a response at 9:39 Central this morning, about 2 seconds after I read your message. It didn’t bounce back to me.
If it isn’t in your Inbox, then check your spam.
If it is in your Inbox, then I don’t know what to say other than you might want to check your Inbox before flaming someone next time.
BTW, the only way your system would need a new key would be if somehow the license directories got messed with (moved or date changed). |
As a treat, here's what I had typed before I changed it and sent the above...
Quote: | I sent you a response at 9:39 Central this morning, about 2 seconds after I read your message. It didn’t bounce back to me.
If it isn’t in your Inbox, then check your spam, because it didn’t bounce back to me.
If it is in your Inbox, then please print it out, roll it up and shove it up your ass. Then show it to your 40 friends so they know what an idiot you are. |
I don't make enough in this hobby for that kind of abuse. _________________ --

He would fall under the dipwad category. Don't let up on your hobby, it's great software and I'm really appreciative of all of your time and effort. Keep up the good work, Doc.
<in my best Richard Gere voice> "I got no place else to go!"
btw, I can't believe you didn't mention "Jack" in your return e-mail. |

I don't think this guy will ever respond to me.
If he didn't get my emails, then he's probably done with me.
If he did get my emails, then he's probably too embarrassed to ever contact me again. _________________ --

The phrase, "Poor planning on your part does not cause an emergency on my part." seems to fit perfectly here. |
