Well, I guess all users can say thanks to the code-cracking and illegal password using clowns of the world.
As a result, v3 will have to be harder to use. We'll have host-based passwords (no more jumping from system to system on a whim) as well as date-based passwords. _________________ --

Matt, the actions of these people have potentially cost me thousands over the last year. My revenue was steadily growing until January '06 when it had a 25% drop off.
How many people were customers in December who found out they no longer needed to pay ever again? How many people will be able to use the last release of v2 for eternity without ever paying again? How much has Corey Cooper lost because people decided to use an illegal password for mine rather than buy his?
I can't even begin to calculate how much money I've lost through the year 2010.
Are you directly responsible for this? Apparently not.
Are you a contributor to it? I would have to say yes.
Could you have done something to curtail it? Absolutely. _________________ --

Yes, Dr Neau, I agree with what you said there.
But can I please re-iterate my points...
I was NOT the cracker.
I did NOT distribute it.
Yes I could have emailed you, but I was under no obligation to and harsh words were said to me on these forums which made me not want to help you out. However I see now that you're really mad about this and I didn't mean to make you mad by not telling you, so now I'm trying to put my bit right.
As I said in my email, I've sent over the donation and I am happy to start a subscription (I'll honour for at least a year or until my software is completely up and running - it's very basic currently!).
I'm glad you've thought about upping the security - host based password seems a good idea. I hope your V3 goes well. |

That's actually not a different approach...the software has done that for two years. _________________ --

Oh ok, I didn't actually know that. Fair enough.
How do you export a chip case then and re-import it into an active tournament? I only ever noticed tournament XML files. |

Willingly accepting known stolen goods makes the recipient just as guilty as the thief.
Just because you fessed up after you got busted doesn't make you any less guilty.
End of Story. _________________ - Dix |

Dr Neau,
Could you please take off the message on sourceforge about my project being yours but hacked? As you can see, it isn't and I don't really want my project attacked like that. |

Hmm...now *you* need *me*...
How long did you know about the password thing before I found out? _________________ --

Maybe you could also search your email archives a bit more...check sent items.
For not having done the hacking yourself, you sure a lot of the details about how they did it. Assuming you come up with something, I want you to send me:
- Email addresses,
- Copies of any emails,
- I want the password you used.
Did you check your sent box? Did you check hard? _________________ --

Hey,
I did check hard yeh - really sorry but I can't find anything. I don't know *exactly* how it was done. I explained that in the email.
About knowing a password for use - I was given it a while back, I can't remember when. |

Yikes! Sorry to sound selfish, but this whole brew-haha is takign the Good Doctor away from his most important work of finishing V3. I think it's a tactic by others to keep the man down! (How's that Conspiracy theorists?)
But the Doc's right. Is it time to start the Dr. Neau Legal Fund?

From my understanding of the topic, there has already been a settlement reached between Dr. Neau and the Community involed and is currently in the proccess of honour that settlement by the concessions made on both sides. |
