I tried searching for a post about this, because I thought I remembered reading about it, but I couldn't find it...

In windows the taskbar at the bottom of the screen shows up during a tournament, sure, I can make it really small before I start the tournament.... but I don't want to do that. Even if I do make it as small as it lets me, there is still this small grey bar visible at the bottom of the window. Is it at all possible to have true fullscreen, always on top mode?

To the best of *my* knowledge, Windows reserves that space for the taskbar and generally doesn't let apps use that space.

Not sure if this is allowed in your version of Windows, but you should be able to set the taskbar to "autohide".

Yeah - if you autohide, you don't even notice it...

I'm good at autohiding...

I know little about java, so I'm not sure if this helps, but:

http://javaalmanac.com/egs/java.awt/screen_FullWin.html

I am just saying, if its possible, it'd be a great feature.... its annoying to have to turn on autohide (I dont usually use it cause its annoying) or to resize the taskbar when I start the tournament manager

I did a little research over lunch today.

I can and will give you the option to display the app in "full screen-always on top mode". However, that mode comes with a caveat...

Java frames can be displayed in true "Full Screen" mode. In that mode the frame is displayed exclusively on the graphics device. Other windows cannot be displayed over the top of it.

My plans: The next version of TM will allow you to display your console in 3 different modes:
- 1. In a normal window
- 2. In fullscreen (window without decorations) mode. This is the way it is currently done
- 3. In fullscreen (exclusive display) mode. This mode is not recommended for the screen where you'll be interacting with the app.

So, what does that mean for you?

I think you'll still want to use method #2 with auto-hide on your toolbar.

Method #3 would cover your toolbar, but as soon as a TM dialog tries to display, you're in trouble because it can't display over the top of the window that has exclusive access to the screen.

Method #3 would be what someone with a dual monitor setup would use:
- Display the console (it initially comes up in a window)
- Drag it to the secondary monitor
- Select the "FullScreen (Exclusive)" option
- Do work on monitor #1. Users look at Monitor #2.

They appear on the monitor that is designated at the primary monitor.

But if I'm using client/server, #3 would probably work out well, right?

You would use #3 on the client and #2 on the server.
