I've heard that chip manufacturers are going to be putting RFID tags in some of the more expensive chips. I think the Tournament Manager software should be able to have access to RFID readers so everyone knows exactly how much they have in chips. You would also need a NAME chip so the program knew who had how much and where they were sitting.
Ok, so this won't happen for ten years, but it's still a valid request. _________________ <thwack> NOooooooBODY expects to lose to Rewind!

They aren't 'going to' they have (they are suppose to be in use at Wynn's)...
Supposedly this is why Wynn’s poker room is not getting big action…….at least that’s what the street says…… |

If you stumble across any articles on this, let me know - I'd be interested in seeing how they utilize this feature... Is it just to make it easy in counting your winnings or determining how much money is out of the cage?

The main reason is to prevent fraud. Here is an old article, but it explains it pretty well: http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn4542 _________________ --

Oh how I love living in a country where gambling gains are considered lottery winnings, which are not taxable. |

Well, the idea I was having was just to track each player's chips in their stack, the chips on the bet line, and the chips in the pot. I see this as being cost prohibitive as each 10 seat table would require 21 readers.
Still, for those who hate math it might be worth it.
.... and for those who are the only ones who are good at math at your table and are just sick and tired of figuring out side pots, it might be worth it. _________________ <thwack> NOooooooBODY expects to lose to Rewind!

Why 21?
Couldn't the chip stack reader just do a subtraction to find out how much a player bets? |
