|
|
I ran a tournament last night and encountered a timer problem with my client laptop. I have used the same laptop for previous tournaments with no problems. After I began running the software and connected to the server, I noticed the timer was not running. The server was running fine and the clock was keeping time on the client but the timer was not moving. The network setup appeared normal, so I couldn't pinpoint the problem. Anyone ever have a similar problem? |

No error messages in the networking log on either the server or the client?
BTW, how do you know the timer was running fine on the client if it wasn't updating?? _________________ --

I didn't look for a message on either one. I was focused on starting the tournament because I was behind schedule and 20 players were growing impatient. New tourney structure implementation also had me distracted.
Questions, questions, and more questions. Anyway, regarding the client timer, the time of day clock component was correct, but the timer component was froze up. I'll also note that I've used up 57 of 63 available MB if that is of any consequence. Can I look for a history of those network messages somewhere if the log is clear?
The "questions" reference was about my curious players, not your reply. |

Time of day will always be accurate as that's retrieved locally (rather than sent from the server).
So, I would guess your client lost its network connection.
I discovered myself last weekend that the client doesn't update very well when the laptop it's running on drops the network connection and can't re-establish it. Damn pcm-cia cards! _________________ --

Of course! Pcm-cia cards! Why didn't I think of that?
I'll make it a point to check for error messages if it happens again. Thanks. |
